Washington Student Leadership

Welcome Students!
For more than a decade students have been linking together, across the state, uniting in purposeful discussion on applying the practical teaching of Jesus. The vision of WSL is to create and mobilize a vibrant community of students from around the state of Washington who are dedicated to Jesus. By connecting leaders of all ages and fostering a dynamic inter-generational fellowship we strive to equip students with a Kingdom centered worldview and to inspire them to impact our state, nation, and world. Our mission is to build the next generation of leaders in Washington State around the person and principles of Jesus. To get involved or if you have a friend at your school with a similar passion, let us know.

Making a Difference
We'd like to invite you to be a part of a community of students who are working together to spread the principles of Jesus to every college campus in Washington State. Along with building relationships with peers, we are also connecting with and hearing from current leaders in our state and nation who are living out a surrendered leadership model centered in Jesus. We are praying for a core group of students and leaders at each campus across our state that would begin praying together for their campus, city, and state as they model their lives after Jesus. 2010 Washington Student Leadership Forum

The 2010 Student Leadership Forum  took place February 25-27 in Olympia, Washington. Once again, this annual gathering of leaders was held in conjunction with the Governor's Prayer Breakfast. Young leaders particpated in this Forum centered in a vision for leadership led by Jesus and were joined by seasoned leaders from many sections of society. To learn more, please click here.

The response from the forum has been outstanding. Legislators loved their time with the students and are excited to become more involved with them. We also had an outstanding group of leaders who participated as small group leaders and panelists throughout the weekend. Many commented that this was their favorite Prayer Breakfast ever.

2010Seattle/King County Prayer Breakfast

The 2010 Seattle/King County Leadership Prayer Breakfast was held on Friday May 14th at The Westin Hotel, Main Ballroom in Seattle, Washington. Our keynote speaker was Senator Paull Shin, legislator for our 21st districe and a former professor. Men and women from across the county once again came together with their fellow elected officials, business leaders and students to pray and focus on Jesus as our model for leadership.

Following the Breakfast, the Civic Forum included a Q&A session with Senator Shin moderated by Allen Belton as well as a guided prayer time with Allen Belton and Rita Nussli.

Students then participated in a special session following the breakfast as well as a luncheon at the Nordstrom Boardroom with various city leaders hosted by Jack McMillan.

Student Leaders @ 2010 Washington Weekend
Washington Weekend is a larger annual event designed for students and adults from across Washington to interact and learn more about servant leadership. This year our guest speaker will be Paul Young, bestselling author of The Shack.  The weekend will be held October 29-31 at the Enzian Inn in beautiful Leavenworth, WA.   All will be blessed to gather together and hear from peers, couples and leaders, sharing about living out faith in the workplace. This is a rich time of fellowship with students and their families from across the state.

The Next Generation
The Student Leadership Forum is an annual gathering of college students and high school seniors from Washington State and the Pacific Northwest region. The purpose is to draw like-minded students together around the vision of servant leadership, taught and modeled by Jesus of Nazareth. Forum’s are often held in conjunction with the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast or Seattle/King County Leadership Prayer Breakfast and include inspirational input and significant interaction with other students and leaders from politics, business, and other walks of life. The hope is that students will see leadership not as a position, but as a lifestyle, which models the precepts of Jesus Himself: to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.

These Forums are an outgrowth of the National Student Leadership which is hosted by Member of Congress every September in Washington, DC. For further information on the National Student Leadership Forum, please click here.
