Stephens III was a remarkable young man whose life tragically ended in 2008 at the age of 25. The impact of how he lived has been an inspiration to so many who have heard his story. His desire to love and serve others radiated from an unforgettable smile and a deep compassion which he freely gave to those around him. One friend provided this observation: "Fred accepted all of us for who we are, and instilled in us the faith that we all need in ourselves to carry on. He blazed a trail through this world, while blessing countless hearts along the way." Another wrote, "Your heartfelt words of encouragement and support of my ambitions meant more to me than you will ever know.
