Governor's Prayer Breakfast![]() On January 21, 1941, the newly elected governor of the state, Arthur B. Langlie, presided over the first Governor's Prayer Breakfast of its kind in the nation. He brought his friends together to pray with him and for him as he began his first term in office. Governor Langlie gave the keynote address followed by silent and audible prayers. He chose a verse that would characterize his three terms in office. "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10. Governor Langlie believed strongly in a life dedicated to public service. He was once quoted as saying: "To be a good volunteer takes faith and then the willingness to act upon that faith. We must have faith in people, in ourselves, in the spiritual resources that exist in every person." It is in this same spirit that leaders come from across the State of Washington to join their elected officials for the annual Governor's Prayer Breakfast in Olympia. Each year breakfast attendees are honored guests of Members of the Washington State Legislator and are invited under invitation by Legislative Advisory Committee organizers. If you have questions regarding invitations or have not been extended a personal invitation from your State Legislator we recommend you contact your legislative representative. Please be advised that each Member receives a limited quantity of tickets for their constituents and guests.
